Canis
Pioneering the Oakland sound of drum & bass, Canis's moves in the studio are in no way connected to trends in music or politics in the scene. One-third of the HSO project alongside Sifu, Canis's production expertise leads him to a variety of electronic music forms. His drum & bass style is solidly rooted in the slow funk, bass-heavy sounds of East Bay hip-hop-namely early Too $hort. Yet, it's the individuality that stands out in Canis's music, the personality and unadulterated depth of feeling that draws you into his world.

But will the public ever see Canis behind the turntables or performing in a live PA? Canis considers this: "Damn... haven't done anything live since playing xylophone in some 6th grade forced participation type thing... but shit, if you can stand the crunchy mess, I can give it a shot... what's to lose?"

More than a producer, Canis-aka Geoff Rantala-is also the exclusive graphic designer for Thermal Recordings.
